She is tasked with bridging the gap between pastoral leadership and congregational needs.
1. Liturgical
Women Support: Assist female candidates and ensuring their comfort before & after Baptismal ceremony.
Service Coordination: Support Pastor in the smooth operation of ministry meetings, sometimes as a greeter.
2. Pastoral Care
Visitations: the critically ill, elderly and homebound - to provide spiritual encouragement and prayer.
Bereavement Support: "mercy meals" or receptions for families following a funeral or other tragedy.
Counseling: Offer emotional and spiritual support, particularly focusing on the needs of women and youth.
Admin Tasks: Manage communications, assist in ministry-wide fellowship events, and maintain records.
Mentorship: Lead prayer groups and workshops tailored for women, and act as a spiritual advisor to younger women and new female members to assist in their spiritual development.
4. Outreach
Mercy Ministry: Coordinate community outreach programs, such as food pantries or special drives.
5. Qualifications: bachelor’s or master’s degree in theology or social work.
Spiritual Standards: Must meet spiritual criteria (often cited from 1 Timothy 3:11), including being "temperate,"
"trustworthy," and "dignified".
7. Certifications: a period of supervised field work or
(CPE) "clinical pastoral education" is required for those serving in institutions like hospitals.
